HISTORY OF THE MAIN THEATER

The original Ahmanson Theatre opened in downtown Los Angeles in 1967 at the intersection of Temple and Hill Streets. For the first ten years of its existence, the theater focused on screening performances from Broadway and other major theatres across the world. As a result, the Ahmanson Theatre became the primary venue for performances from all over the world, including England, France, Italy and many more.

In 1983, the theater was relocated to its current position in downtown Los Angeles, near the junction of Grand Avenue and 2nd Street. The new Ahmanson Theatre was constructed by renowned Ellerbe Becket Architects.
